Barbara Evan – LFF – Jan 6th
Barbara Evan says she has been working on another painting that won’t leave her alone. In fact, this one shows how hard it is for her to leave a painting alone. It has also been difficult to come up with a title. Finally, after ruling out any number of possibilities, including some brilliant suggestions from people who saw an earlier version during the St Paul Art Crawl, the right name appeared in her brain. It is, all too appropriately, “Where I’m at.” She would love to have you to come and see it (and her) in person.
Barbara’s studio will be open Friday, January 6, from 6 to 9:00 pm as part of Lowertown First Fridays. She is in the Jax Building at 4th and Wacouta. Several other buildings in St Paul’s Lowertown will also be open. Please stop in and visit with some local artists! You can also witness the progress of the “end of the line” light rail station in front of the old/new Union Depot.

STUDIO SENDERO OPEN STUDIO DURING LOWERTOWN FIRST FRIDAY
SAINT PAUL, MN – Studio Sendero invites musicians and dancers to join Sendero Flamenco for an open jam on January 6, 2011 from 6-9pm during Lowertown First Friday. Studio Sendero is in the JAX Building located at 253 East 4th Street #502 Saint Paul, MN 55101. Studio Sendero is both a dance and music studio that strives to make flamenco accessible to the community, encourages artist collaboration and is the home of Sendero Flamenco, a flamenco performance group established in 2004. Aside from music and dance collaborations, mini-lessons and demonstrations, there will be watercolor art by Emily Kaplan on display and available for purchase. Visitors can also find out information about Studio Sendero’s official grand opening event on January 21, 2011 and winter classes beginning January 23, 2011.

Lowertown Holidaze/Holidays Art Sale

In conjunction with Lowertown First Fridays, Northern Warehouse Artists’ Cooperative will be hosting a Holidaze/Holiday Art Sale, Friday December 2nd from 6 – 9 PM and Saturday, December 3rd during the hours of 11 AM – 7 PM. The sale features unique handcrafted items, plus original artworks in all shapes and sizes created by Northern Warehouse artists.
For best selection, plan to attend the Lowertown First Friday event on December 2nd where you will be able to shop the Holidaze/Holiday Art Sale. You can also visit the art studios of some of the participating artisans and artists.
